New Delhi, Feb 18 (UNI) BJP national president J P Nadda on Tuesday appointed party's Rajya Sabha MP Saroj Pandey as the central observer to oversee the election of legislature party leader in the Delhi Assembly.
Ms Pandey will hold a meeting with newly-elected eight MLAs of the party to name a consensus candidate, sources said.
In the erstwhile sixth Delhi Assembly, BJP leader Vijender Gupta was the Leader of Opposition. In the recently concluded election, Mr Gupta retained its Rohini seat by defeating his nearest rival Rajesh Bansiwala from AAP by a margin of more than 12 thousands votes.
Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP won 62 of 70 seats, leaving only eight for the BJP while the Congress drew a blank. The saffron party got 38.5 per cent of total votes, while AAP's vote share was 53.6 per cent.
