J&K Speaker directs govt to make all lift irrigation schemes functional

Srinagar, Jun 13 (UNI) Speaker of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Kavinder Gupta today directed the Irrigation and Flood Control (I&FC) Department to ensure un-interrupted irrigation facilities to farmers during current Kharif season.
He instructed an immediate restoration of defuncted lift irrigation schemes besides pump stations so that the farming community does not face any inconvenience while irrigating their fields as the farming season is underway.
The instructions in this regard were given by the Speaker at the beginning of today’s proceedings of the House after the issue was raised by Mohammad Khalil Bandh.
