J&K Panchayat Conference’s hunger strike enters day 7, condition of two deteriorates

Jammu, Dec 9 (UNI) The hunger strike of All Jammu Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC)—a front line body of elected Panchayat members—on Monday entered the seventh day, while the condition of two of its members also deteriorated.
Slamming the Union Government for paying only lip service to Sarpanchs and Panchs without bothering about the real issues confronting them, on the seventh and penultimate day of 168-hour-long hunger strike launched by the AJKPC under the leadership of state president Anil Sharma against non-clearance of Rs 1,000-crore MGNREGA liabilities, hundreds of Sarpanchs and Panchs different parts of Jammu and Kashmir joined the movement and held demonstration at the protest site here.
The protesting Panchayat members raised slogans against the Union Government and demanded that the Centre should immediately clear all liabilities under MGNREGA scheme and fulfill other genuine demands of Sarpanchs and Panchs in J&K without any delay.
