J&K: BJP candidate from Surankote dies due to illness

Jammu, Oct 2 (UNI) Bharatiya Janata Party candidate from Surankote constituency in the Assembly polls, Syed Mushtaq Bukhari, died on Wednesday due to illness at his native place in the Pamrote Surankote area of the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. He was 75.
He was a two-time legislator from Surankote, a Scheduled Tribe reserved constituency in the Jammu region.
Bukhari was affiliated to the National Conference for more than four decades before joining the BJP in 2022.
He parted ways with the National Conference due to differences with party leadership over ST status for the Pahari community.
