Chandigarh, Aug 22 (UNI) Haryana Education Minister Ram Bilas Sharma today said it is the responsibility of every person to maintain unity and protect the freedom of the country which was attained after long struggle and sacrifices made by lakhs of martyrs.
Speaking during the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ in Mahendragarh, he said the yatra had been organised on the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to mark 70 years Independence. It is aimed at acquainting the youth with the heroics of the martyrs through whose efforts the country attained freedom, besides instilling the spirit of patriotism, unity and harmony in them.
The yatra also serves as a tribute to the martyrs who made the ultimate sacrifice for the country, besides delivering the message of non-violence and the need to alleviate poverty and end illiteracy, he added.
