Varanasi, Jan 20 (UNI) The Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh police has nabbed an Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agent of Pakistan from Parawah area of the adjoining Chandauli district, here on Monday.
Police sources said here that accused Rashid Ahmed, a native of Chaurhat under Mugalsarai police station, had visited his aunt's residence in Karachi, Pakistan in 2018, where he came in touch with the ISI.
Thereafter since March 2019, Rashid used to send pictures and videos of important Indian places, including the Army areas. ATS has seized several such pictures and documents sent to Pakistan by the accused.
The ATS has taken Rashid to Lucknow for further interrogation and even Military intelligence and IB have been interrogating him.
Sources said that Rashid has given vital information about the Army movement in Jodhpur, along with the information of Varanasi Cantonment and CRPF centre of Amethi to the ISI. All the photos and videos were sent through Whatsapp.
"Rashid, who works to make and install banners and posters, went to Pakistan twice in 2017 and then again in 2018. The Pakistan handler had given Rashid two SIM cards. We have also recovered Rs 5000 sent through PayTM to Rashid by the ISI," they added.
