Isha Gramotsavam expands to 10 states for biggest-ever edition

Bengaluru, July 15 (UNI) Isha Gramotsavam, India's largest rural sports festival, is set for its biggest edition yet, expanding to 10 states and one union Territory and bringing together more than 80,000 players from over 40,000 villages to compete for a prize pool exceeding Rs 1 crore, organisers said on Wednesday.
The 18th edition marks the tournament's first expansion into Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha and Maharashtra, extending its footprint beyond South India. These states join Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry, making this the widest geographical reach since the event was launched in 2004.
Organised by Sadhguru's Isha Outreach, the tournament is expected to feature nearly 7,000 teams, including around 15,000 women players. Men will compete in volleyball, while women will participate in throwball. The multi-stage competition will begin with cluster-level matches from the second week of July, followed by divisional and state-level rounds before culminating in the Grand Finale on September 6 at the Isha Yoga Center in Coimbatore in the presence of Sadhguru.
