Chennai, Jul 23 (UNI) The toll in the Saturday's collapse of an iron scaffolding in under construction hospital at Kandanchavadi on the OMR in the city, rose to two with the death of one more migrant worker on Monday.
Police said the deceased was identified as Rajan Chowdhury (19).
Rajan, a native of Bihar and was working as a migrant construction worker, suffered serious head injuries and was admitted to the Apollo hospital, where he succumbed today.
Police have registered a case against construction supervisors and engineers /under various Sections of IPC including 288 (negligent conduct with respect to pulling down or repairing buildings), 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others), 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304-A (causing death by negligence).
After registering cases, police arrested Murugesan and Silambarasan, the DGM (projects) and the site engineer respectively in connection with the accident.
Meanwhile, social activist 'Traffic' Ramasamy filed a plea in the Madras High Court, urging it to look into the matter and take action against those behind the incident.
Mr Justice N Kirubakaran said it would be taken up for hearing tomorrow.
According to sources, a Coimbatore-based hospital was constructing a branch and the construction works were was in full swing when the incident occurred.
