Iraqi security forces storm Mosul airport

BAGHDAD, Feb 23 (Reuters) - US-backed Iraqi security forces closing in on the Islamic State-held western half of Mosul stormed the city's main airport and a nearby military base today, state television said. "Rapid response forces, federal police and anti-terrorism forces stormed Mosul airport... and an al-Ghazlani military camp," said a statement read out on state TV. Since ousting the militant group from eastern Mosul last month, Iraqi forces have sought to capture Mosul airport and the nearby al-Ghazlani military base on Mosul's southern outskirts and use them as a launchpad to retake the western half of the city REUTERS CJ PM1210

Brasilia, Feb. 7 (UNI) Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said Thursday that U.S. President Donald Trump was elected to govern the United States, not "to rule the world."
In an interview with two radio stations based in the northeastern state of Bahia, Lula said, "I respect the election of President Trump who was elected by the American people to govern the United States," but "he was not elected to rule the world."
The U.S. president has to maintain "democratic and civilized" relations with the rest of the world, Lula noted, with reference to Trump's intention to relocate Palestinians from the Gaza Strip.
