IPL 2020: Rana's fifty guides KKR to 172/5 against CSK

Dubai, Oct 29 (UNI) A superb fifty by Nitish Rana (87 off 61) guided Kolkata Knight Riders to a fighting total of 172/5 against Chennai Super Kings in the 49th match of the IPL 2020 at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, here on Thursday.
After being invited to bat, openers Shubman Gill and Nitish Rana gave KKR a good start. The duo pierces the gaps well to get boundaries and take KKR 48/0 to after 6 overs.
However, CSK spinners Karn Sharma and Mitchell Santner struck in successive overs to dismiss Shubman Gill (26) and Sunil Narine (7), leaving KKR to 60-2 at 8.3 overs.
Nitish Rana anchored the KKR innings after losing two quick wickets along with Rinku Singh. They added 23 runs for the 3rd wicket before Rinku (11) got out to Ravindra Jadeja in the 13th over.
Rana got to his 3rd half-century of IPL 2020 off 44 balls. After scoring his fifty, Rana charged Karn Sharma in the 16th over for three sixes.
Lungi Ngidi struck in the 18th over to remove Nitish Rana for 87 and deny the KKR opener his first hundred in the league.
Dinesh Karthik (21 off 10) and Morgan ( 15 off 12) gave KKR the final flourish and scored 66 runs off the final 5 overs to take team's score 172/5 in 20 overs.
For CSK, Lungi Ngidi scalped two wickets.
