IPL 2020: Karun Nair recovers from COVID-19, set to travel UAE with KXIP

New Delhi, Aug 13 (UNI) India cricketer Karun Nair has recovered from COVID-19 and is set to travel with the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) team to the UAE next week, for the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting September 19.
According to a ESPNCricinfo report, Nair went into self-isolation for more than two weeks before testing negative for the coronavirus. The report also said that Nair tested COVID-19 negative on August 8 at the end of his quarantine.
The batsman will now undergo three more tests as part of the protocol the KXIP management has laid out for the contingent travelling to the UAE. Only those who clear the testing process will board the flight on August 20.
Nair, who has scored a triple hundred in Tests, last played for India in 2017. He has played 14 games for Kings XI across the 2018 and 2019 IPL seasons, scoring 306 runs, including two fifties, at a strike rate of 134.80.
Nair is the first high-profile Indian cricketer to have had Covid-19.
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals announced on Wednesday that their fielding coach Dishant Yagnik had tested positive for the coronavirus and is quarantining in Udaipur, his hometown.
The 13th edition of IPL will be played across three venues - Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi - from September 19 to November 10.
