Dubai, Sep 21 (UNI) Riding on brilliant fifties by Devdutt Padikkal and AB de Villiers, Royal Challengers Bangalore posted a challenging total of 163-5 against Sunrisers Hyderabad in the 3rd match of IPL 2020 here at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Monday.
Apart from Devdutt Padikkal (56 off 42) and AB de Villiers (51 off 30) , Aaron Finch also contributed well with 29 off 27.
After being invited to bat first by SRH captain David Warner, openers Devdutt Padikkal and Aaron Finch gave RCB a solid start. The duo dominated the Sunrisers Hyderabad attack and scored 53-0 in the powerplay.
Padikkal on his IPL debut looked in great touch and brought up his half-century off 36 balls.
Vijay Shankar ended the opening partnership of 90 runs between and Padikkal and Finch. Padikkal (56 off 42) was bowled by Vijay in the last ball of the 11th over.
In the first ball of the next over, Abhishek Sharma dismissed Finch on 29.
After losing Padikkal and Finch in successive deliveries, captain Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers batted well and stitched a partnership of 33 runs for the third wicket.
Fast bowler T Natarajan gave Sunrisers Hyderabad a huge breakthrough by dismissing the dangerous Virat Kohli for 14 to peg RCB back.
After Kohli's wicket, all-rounder Shivam Dube walked in to join AB de Villiers at the crease, with 4 overs left.
The South African star gave RCB the final flourish. He scored a 30-ball 51 before getting run-out in the last over. Shivam Duberun scored 7 off 8.
T Natarajan 1/34, Vijay Shankar 1/14, Abhishek Sharma 1/16 were the wicket takers for SRH.
