IOC meets entire aviation fuel needs of IAF involved in Kerala flood relief

Chennai, Aug 21 (UNI) The public sector Indian Oil Corporation (IOC)
on Tuesday said it has borne the entire aviation fuel needs of the Indian
Air Force (IAF) involved in rescue and relief operations in the flood-ravaged
Kerala.
IOC South Zone General Manager (Corporate Communications) Ms Sabitha
Nataraj said apart from meeting the fuel needs of IAF, the requirements of
other flights in Thiruvananthapuram were also met by the IOC.
Observing that the fuel demand at Thiruvananthapuram airport shot up
significantly from about 150 Kilo Litres (KL) per day to 550 KL due to
the natural calamity, she said to meet the increasing demand the aviation
fuel were moved from Coimbatore, Bengaluru, Mangalore and even from
Hyderabad since August 17.
She said the demand was so drastic that the refuel requirements, which
remained at eight to ten flights a day, shot up to to 80 to 90 flights per day.
She said so far the IOC has so far moved 1,861 KL of petrol, 1,913 KL of
diesel and 523 KL of aviation turbine fuel.
