Inviting India to an Australian Film Festival to be a great idea: Harinder Sidhu

Kolkata, Nov 11 (UNI) Australian and Bengali film industry share a mental sync that both tries to tell stories in a unique passion, said Harinder Sidhu, Australian High Commissioner to India after inaugurating an special exhibition of Australian film posters in Nandan this morning.

She added, "We are humbled for the entire support of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and her government." In an exclusive chat with UNI, when asked if they are planning Australian Film Festival with India as special collaborator, Ms. Sidhu answered, "Since we don't have any concrete plan but inviting India in an Australian Film Festival would have been a great idea, for sure."

26 Australian films are here to collect reactions of audiences. Utterly film buff Ms. Sidhu further added, "Like Bengali cinema, Australian cinema also mostly seen as art film rather than commercial cinema. Because both of the industries tells deeper stories to touch the soul."

Being a Bollywood fan she said, "I started watching Bolly movies since I was 5 years old. Then I loved watching 'Haathi Mere Saathi' and now my choices have definitely been diversified. I like Aamir Khan and loved 'Dangal' very much. I like Shah Rukh Khan's movies as I love 'DDLJ' a lot. I like to mention 'Sangam', 'Sholay' as few more of my favourites."

While talking about the pattern of film is reigning Australia all though she concluded, "In Australia we are making very unusual, creative and unique film. I think worldwide people are looking for some new and original stories to connect. I would like to mention the film 'Dressmaker'; a perfect combination of an unique love story with a touch of magical realism."
