International seminar in Pondicherry University

Puducherry,Feb 10(UNI) The Department of International Business, Pondicherry University in association with the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), will organizes a two-day National seminar on ‘Maximizing Manufacturing Competency of MSMEs through Make in India Programme”on February 11 and 12.
According to a University release here today,MSMEs have shown constant growth rate of over 10% in recent years much ahead of the large-scale corporate sector. This sector contributes 8% of the country’s GDP, 45% of the manufactured output and 40% of its exports. `Make in India` campaign to get Indian companies as well as global firms to invest and partner in the manufacturing sector is a well-drawn out concept and is the most relevant for India’s MSMEs. ‘Make in India’ campaign can attract the foreign MNCs to bring in their investment, set up venture/angel funds to take advantage of the inherent depth of the MSME Sector in terms of range of products and services, marketing networks and the ability to grow fast. The two day seminar will address issues such as how the MSMEs Manufacturing sector boost itself through “Make in India” programme,what are the manufacturing competencies to be equipped by Indian MSMEs to make use “Make in India Programme”,how mandatory sourcing of goods from MSMEs by government and MNCs will help the MSMEs,among other things.
Pondicherry University Vice-Chancellor (in-charge) Anisa Basheer Khan will inaugurate the seminar in the presence of the Development Commissioner of Madras Export Processing Zone (MEPZ).
