International Day of Sign Languages celebrated in Arunachal

Itanagar, Sep 23 (UNI) The Donyi Polo Mission School for the Hearing, Visual, and Intellectual Impaired here on Saturday celebrated the International Day of Sign Languages in the school premises with its hearing impaired students, who generally need to use signs for better education, training, and in all walks of life.
Attending the program, Kendriya Vidyalaya No. 2 (Itanagar) Principal K R Meena said that he considers each and every child with special needs as a full individual with enormous potential and added that it’s our moral responsibility to provide the fullest support and nourishment to them so they can become productive members of society and lead a life with self-respect and dignity.
The vice chairman of the Donyi Polo Mission, Dr. Okeng Apang, said a hearing-impaired child uses signs owing to his natural instincts as a mode of communication, and we have to provide him with an inclusive environment at the community level so that he or she gets enough opportunity to develop.
