International Day of Persons with Disabilities observes to promote rights

Kolkata, Dec 3 (UNI) The International Day of Persons with Disabilities is observed annually on December 3 every year, with the aim to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations (UN) General Assembly resolution.
To mark this day, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres in a message said, more than 1 billion people in the world live with some form of disability.
