Internal squabble in Tripura BJP: CM meets PM

Agartala, Sept 25 (UNI) Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb yesterday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and apprised him of the steps taken by the state government to combat Covid-19 pandemic, Deb tweeted here .
He stated that the meeting discussed the ongoing developmental projects in the state amidst Covid-19 crisis and sought help from the Centre to complete the remaining work besides, seeking support for state specific development projects.
However, with the political turmoil in state BJP and the ruling party MLAs against the chief minister, Deb was summoned in Delhi along with state president Dr Manik Saha. Deb’s visit was initially scheduled for three days but now it has been extended for a week and the meeting with Modi at this juncture seems to be significant, said a senior BJP leader here.
Apart from indulging in large scale corruption, the failure to manage Covid-19 situation leading to the death of 265 people so far, the chief minister was accused of working against the party's interest that weakened the support base of BJP here in the past two and half years, the leader said and added, “Because of vendetta politics and corrupt administration not only the party MLAs , the party rank and file also became hostile and annoyed with the BJP top leaders.”
Deb had also openly threatened media for criticizing the failure of his government in Covid-19 management and ensuring adequate services, including oxygen supply to ICUs. Later, when media sought his apology, he withdrew the threat. Deb had further insulted the media and allegedly started administrative action against their family members, which put the party in trouble, he said.
“Everything has been detailed to Delhi explaining how the chief minister is doing vendetta politics with our party men, MLAs and others who are opposing his activities without considering the future of BJP in Tripura. A large number of BJP MLAs are waiting for the action of Delhi to settle down the dust,” he added.
