Intellectual Property Rights strong catalyst for socio-economic growth: Dr Ghokale

Pune, Sep 16 (UNI) As engineers are the key drivers of the Indian economy, most of the Universities and the academic institutions from the country are in the process of creating the Centres of Excellence for building the intellectual property since intellectual property has the great potential to build the strategic alliances for the socio-economic and the technological growth in the modern world as well as the foundation for sustenance in the competitive economic state, said Dr Sadanand Gokhale, former director, VNIT-Nagpur, on Monday.
Speaking as a chief guest on the first day of 3-day national conference on Intellectual Property Rights organised by MIT-ADT University at its campus in Loni near here, he said that the growing significance of the intelligible assets in the global economy was forcing the business corporations to actively manage and protect their intellectual property assets, as a key driver for building and sustaining the competitive advantage, with the objective of achieving the superior performance.
While emphasising upon the need of having the stringent laws to safeguard the intellectual property rights for an emerging India, Dr Gokhale said that the image of a nation can be built on the quality of research and innovation.
