New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) Amid buzz that US President Donald Trump and his Iranian counterpart Hassan Rouhani could meet at the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in New York later this month, in a key development, Indian Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale will be traveling to Tehran on Sunday for consultations, according to South Block.
Besides taking part in the 16th Foreign Office Consultations, during his two-day stay, Mr Gokhale will hold talks with his counterpart Deputy Foreign Minister Syed Abbas Araghchi.
Mr Gokhale is also likely to meet Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.
Western media reports have suggested that President Trump has repeatedly indicated he is ready to meet with Mr Rouhani, who is expected to attend the UN General Assembly in New York later this month.
However, there have been no confirmation.
