Indian stock markets end lower amid fresh blows between US and Iran

New Delhi, June 11 (UNI) Indian stock markets on Thursday ended lower in a highly volatile session. Nifty 50 close below the 23,200 mark amid broad-based selling across sectors, and taking fresh cues from the United States (US) fresh attack on Iran.
At close, the Sensex was down 150.63 points or 0.20 percent at 73,832.55, and the Nifty was down 53.35 points or 0.23 percent at 23,161.60.
Among the sectors, private bank, media, pharma were up, while IT index shed 1.4percent, PSU Bank, Realty, Energy, Consumer Durables were laggards.
On Nifty, the stocks ending in green were M&M followed by ICICI Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, JSW Steel, Sun Pharma and Bharti Airtel. Nearly 38 stocks ended in the red. These included Infosys, HCL Technologies, Adani Ports, Eternal and Bajaj Finance.
More than 80 stocks touched their 52-week low on the BSE. These included HCL Tech, LTM, Zensar Tech, EID Parry, Rail Vikas Nigam, Dalmia Bharat, Kalyan Jeweller, Swiggy, HDFC Life, eClerx Services, Wipro, SBI Life Insurance, TCS, ICICI Prudential, P and G, Reliance Industries, Jyothy Labs, Bharti Hexacom, among others.
After the government's announcement on the excise cut on higher ethanol blended petrol, sugar stocks rallied.
Paytm shares came under significant selling pressure, falling 4%. Adani Group stocks also remained under pressure, with Adani Energy Solutions and Adani Power declining 4.5% and 2.3%, respectively.
Bank Nifty fell more than 400 points from its day's high. ICICI Bank rose 1.6 percent. Further, Kotak Mahindra Bank advanced 1.16 percent, while AU Small Finance Bank gained 0.94 percent.IndusInd Bank, IDFC First Bank and Axis Bank also rose up to 1 percent.
In a fresh development in the US Iran War, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps declared the Strait of Hormuz "closed to all vessels" after fresh US strikes on Iran.
The IRGC warned that any ship attempting to pass through the key waterway could be targeted, marking a sharp escalation in the confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

Bank loan recovery improves in UP

Lucknow, Jul 12(UNI) Bank loan recovery has improved significantly over the past year in Uttar Pradesh, reports here said.
According to a joint report submitted by banks to the government recently, pending recovery certificates (RCs) have decreased from 23.23 lakh to 9.32 lakh, a reduction of 13.91 lakh. The pending amount associated with these certificates has also decreased from Rs 36,994 crore to Rs 17,856 crore.

Over 17 million taxpayers file Income Tax Returns so far: I-T Department
