Beijing, Jan 27 (UNI) Indian Embassy in Beijing on Monday issued a series of advisories for Indians in China stating that Indian nationals in Wuhan or Hubei province can inform the embassy if they "encounter shortage of food, water and other essential supplies".

"Indian nationals in Wuhan/Hubei province are urged to inform Indian Embassy in Beijing if they encounter shortage of food, water and other essential supplies and provide us with the exact location so that Embassy could work with the Chinese authorities to ensure that such essential supplies are sustained," the Indian mission said on Twitter.

The Embassy also said: "We have learnt that some of the Indian nationals are currently not in possession of their passports, which have been submitted to Chinese authorities for visa extension or work permit or other reasons."

"All those presently in Hubei province and not in personal possession of their passports are requested to intimate us with the following details: Name; Passport number; To whom (which Chinese authority) has the passport been submitted to; and Date on which the passport was submitted".

"... These details may please be furnished urgently to Mr. Sondhi, who is an official with @EOIBeijing. (WeChat ID: sondhi_0808)".

External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar on Sunday assured that the Indian embassy in Beijing is constantly checking on the health and well being of the Indians in China in the context of Corona virus outbreak.

"Our Embassy in Beijing is constantly checking on the health and well-being of the Indians in China. Please follow Embassy of India in Beijing - @EOIBeijing - for more updates on the situation," Dr Jaishankar tweeted.

Indian Embassy in Beijing has said earlier: "We are in close touch with Chinese authorities on procedures and further steps that can be taken in order to assure their safety. Our two hotlines (+8618612083629 and +8618612083617) are operational and are open to respond to any concerns of Indians in China".

In another missive it said, "Embassy of India Beijing is in constant contact with Indian citizens in Hubei province, including Wuhan city, especially the student community, to check on their health and well-being".

On the instructions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister P K Mishra on Saturday chaired a high level meeting in Delhi on the Corona virus outbreak in China.
