Indian Coast Guard patrol vessel Priya Darsini commissioned

Kakinada, Apr 26 (UNI) Indian Coast Guard additional director general KR Nautiyal has commissioned the
high speed patrol vessel Priyadarsini at a function held at the Jetty in the deep water port here on Friday.
He said the ship based at Kakinada would be deployed for undertaking operational commitments as enshrined
in the Coast Guard charter and will be under the administrative and operational control of the commander Coast
guard region (east).

The coast guard ship (ICGS) Priyadarsini is the first ship amongst the five in the series being built indigenously
by M/s GRSE and capable of achieving maximum speed of 34 knots within an overall length of 50 meters and a
displacement of 308 tonnes.

It is propelled with three diesel engines coupled with water jets enabling it he capability of undertaking shallow water operations.

The ship is capable of undertaking multifarious tasks such as fisheries protection and monitoring, anti smuggling, surveillance .interdiction, search and rescue.

Medical evacuation and coordinated sea-air search. The fire power of the ship is provided by its main armament
40/60 Bofors guns.

The class of ship has a state- of -the art of communication and navigational equipment which gives the sustenance power.’ he added.

Besides the coast guard officials, Collector Kartikeya Mishra, Kakinada seaports limited Chief operating officer
Merla Muralidhar were among those attended.
