New Delhi, Jun 19 (UNI) Indian Coast Guard on Saturday said that it has provided assistance to the Indian ship JSW MV Mihirgad off Kasargod on Friday when the cargo ship suffered total power failure resulting in blackout conditions onboard on June 17.
The officials in ICG said that after receiving the distressed message, a situational assessment was undertaken by ICG District Headquarters at New Mangalore for safe embarkation of technical team ex- CSL. Due to the prevailing adverse sea conditions with high swell, embarkation of technical team for defect rectification was not feasible using boats and helicopter was considered a safe option.
“On Friday morning, a Coast Guard helicopter CG 817 airlifted the deputed technical staff from New Mangalore for undertaking the defect rectification on power generation system to restore the ships power”, the ICG spokesperson said.
