Indian Chamber of Commerce organises a session on self-sufficiency in edible oils sector

Kolkata, Oct 20 (UNI) "Improving the investment climate for Edible Oil sector is on top priority for Government,” said Sudhanshu Pandey, Secretary, Department of Food and Public Distribution, Government of India during an e-Conference titled 'Make in India: Towards self-sufficiency in edible oils sector' organized by the Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC) recently.
Pandey further added that to encourage domestic production of edible oils, the government has taken up the national mission for edible oils, and give full focus on non-traditional sources like rice bran, cottonseed and tree borne oilseeds.
He also informed that although the import supply chain will play an important role, gradual increase in the domestic production of edible oil is the need of the hour though.
