Chennai, June 30 (UNI) It was Veer Chotrani's day in the Asian
junior Individual squash championship at Macau on Sunday as
the Indian annexed the Under-19 title.
In all Indian final, Chotrani defeated higher seeded Yash Fadte
11-5, 9-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7 in a roller-coaster encounter.
Fadte has to settle for the silver medal, ensuring a 1-2 finish for
India.
Veer was the third Indian to win this prestigious title after Ravi
Dixit and Vela Senthilkumar earlier, a SRFI release said.
Veer was the U-13 winner five years ago in Iran.
It was a contest of fluctuating fortunes that provided all the
excitement that a title contest deserved.
After sharing the first four games, the crowning moment came
for Veer when he sped ahead after the two players seemed
going level till 7-7 to clinch the issue in style in the decider.
In the two other finals featuring Indians Neel Joshi settled for
silver in the Boys U-17 as did Yuvna Gupta in Girls U-15 section.
Still with one gold, three silver and as many bronzes, this was
