India's nCoV recovery rate improves to 71.17 pc

New Delhi, Aug 14 (UNI) India's COVID recovery rate on Friday improved to 71.17 per cent after 55573 recoveries were recorded in the past 24 hours, pushing the total number of cured/discharged past 17 lakh-mark, Union Health Ministry said in its daily update.
According to the Union Health Ministry data, 1751555 patients have so far recovered, exceeding the active number of cases by 1089960.
The active cases in the country now stand at 661595.
Meanwhile, the death toll has increased to 48040 after 1007 people lost their lives to the pandemic since Thursday.
The fatality rate across the nation has now further reduced to 1.95 per cent , the government data added.
The overall infection tally increased to 2461190 so far , on Friday.
A total of 2,76,94,416 samples have been tested for COVID as per the Indian Council of Medical Research till Thursday.
