India's largest coal reserve Deocha-Pachami coal block to become operational

Kolkata, Jul 24 (UNI) Birbhum district's Deocha-Pachami coal block, the largest coal reserve in India, will soon get into activity following the Centre's nod.
With reserves of 2,102 million tonne, Deocha-Pachami which spreads over an area of 12.31 sq km, is one of the largest coal reserves in Asia.
Operations at Deocha-Pachami is expected to generate one lakh employment,and state government has pledged an investment of Rs 12,000 crore, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had said during a recent programme at Calcutta Leather Complex.
Coal from Deocha-Pachami will not only fulfill the requirements of Bengal but also the neighbouring states.
