India’s first sanitary pad bank launched in Mumbai

Mumbai, May 29 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnanis's wife Amruta Fadnavis along with Bollywood actress Zeenat Aman have launched India’s first-ever sanitary pad bank on the occasion of World Menstruation Hygiene Day (MH Day) in a grand way here.

The said online pad bank is under the mentorship of Dr Bharati Lavekar, renowned social worker for girl and women causes under her NGO 'Tee Foundation'.

The basic idea is to create awareness about menstruation hygiene in girls and women of all castes and communities, poor and underprivileged in urban as well as remotest rural areas across India, neglect of which can lead to serious health issues like vaginal infections, cervical and ovarian cancers.

Any social organisation or body can avail the benefit of getting free or subsisted pads by registering online.

Both Ms Fadnavis and Ms Aman appreciated the cause and effort put in by Dr Lavekar and her Tee Foundation in her endeavour to create awareness regarding menstruation hygiene, yesterday.
