India's Constitution is based on our Indian culture: Goa Governor

Panaji, Jan 27 (UNI) Goa Governor Mridulla Sinha and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar attended the concluding ceremony of Constitution Week Celebration at Raj Bhavan on Thursday.
Expressing her happiness over successful observation of constitution week, the Governor said,'' Every year we celebrate Republic day by hoisting the national flag as an official formality so suddenly a thought came in my mind that beside this there is need to aware people about our Indian Constitution and remind them of their responsibilities and duties that’s the reason she proposed to celebrate constitution week celebration across the state.''
She congratulated and appreciated the efforts and hard work by all the volunteers to make this concept successful.
She said,“Our Constitution is based on our Indian Culture”. The important component for the programme was to make aware to the common people in their own language. She thanked Chief Minister, Professors for their cooperation and support in making the idea bringing into reality.
Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, on the occasion, said this year only for a week Constitution week was celebrated but from next year, whole year it will be celebrated because new generation should be aware of the fundamental rights and duties as they don’t seem to aware of important aspect of constitution.
''India is much more secular than any other country before the adoption of Indian Constitution and our country is still surviving perfectly in spite of diverse population,'' he said.
Constitution Week was an initiative by Governor of Goa organised by Department of Political Science, coordinated by Directorate of Higher Education and supported by V.M Salgaocar College of Law, G.R.Kare College of Law, Directorate of Education, Directorate of Panchayat, Directorate of Municipal Administration, Collectorate of North and South Goa.
Present on the occasion were ProfessorVarun Sahni Vice-Chancellor of Goa University Dr.M.K Prsasad, Principal of V.M Salgoacar College of Law, Dr. Rahul Tripathi Head of Department, Department of Political Science, Goa University, Shri Rupesh Kumar Thakur, IAS Secretary to Governor, Professors of V.M Salgoacar College of Law ,Kare College and Goa Unversity.
Students Volunteers, faculty of Salgoacar college of Law, G R Kare College of Law and Goa University were felicitated on the occasion.
Goa University Vice Chancellor Professor Varun Sahni also spoke on the occasion .
Ms Shruti Nadkarni compered the programme whereas Shri Rupesh Kumar Thakur welcomed the gathering . Assistant Professor Sandhya Ram proposed the vote of thanks
