India Runway Week: From Powerloom to Handloom on its 5th anniversary

New Delhi, Apr 21 (UNI) Celebrating five years of Indian fashion, India Runway Week (IRW) came into existence to promote young and fresh fashion in the industry.

India Runway Week has been redefining the future of fashion year after year by bringing together some of the best of established and emerging talent in fashion and beauty.

The fashion event has pioneered the Newgen Show, where fresh talent makes its debut, and Indian Textile shows focus entirely on craftsmanship, not only giving wings to the nation's budding talent but also bringing forth our rich cultural heritage.

The fifth anniversary is a landmark depicting achievements, memories and magnification of fresh Indian fashion at par with India’s leading counterparts.

The anniversary finale is dedicated to handloom where five young and establish designers will showcase at finale show which will be opened by Daniel Siyem presenting collection “ShaKiLum,” uses the textiles of the tribes of Meghalaya to create a deconstructed, gender-fluid collection that highlights the unique tribal essence of the state within a modern and edgy collection.

Hyderabad designer Shravan Kummar will be second in the row showcasing textiles of sunrise state Andhra Pradesh. His collection is organically dyed and all handmade. Shravan will be having master weavers from Hyderabad as his showstoppers. Jenjum Gadi will be showcasing PHROZUH- the cotton yarn.

His collection is inspired by cotton yarn which is used to weave the fabric for the collection.

His collection is a pure balance of masculinity and femininity and inspired by this characteristics most of the silhouettes are gender fluid or unisex.

Niharika Pandey will be presenting hand weaved fabric from Bihar in geometric designs. Her label is known for bold and colorful feel. Her collection is a blend of high fashion street wear with a twist of comfort and feel of handcrafted details.

Last but not the least in a row Agnimitra Paul will be showcasing her textile collection from Kolkata.

Avinash Pathania, Founder, Indian Federation for Fashion Development said, “We are really excited about the finale show. As our finale is dedicated to the celebration of five years and its homage to handloom because in our past five season of experience we have witnessed fashion industry evolving from Powerloom to handloom and this change is huge and for good.”

Other than finale designers, there is a complete line-up of fresh and young designers who will be seen showcasing their collection at India Runway Week Season 10 are Ridha by Rohit Arora, Varsana, Soniya Chandorkar, Nazila Sawhney, Kavita Aggarwal, Saaj by Ankita, Shivaanii R Singhania, Weaver Soul by Shravan Gajam, Vagmi by Shradha Goenka, Aditya Panchal, Shivani Bachheria, Vaani Raghupathy, Nikhita Tandon, Jewellery designer Akassh K Aggarwal and many others.
