India records tallest ever single day spike of 22771 Covid infections, tally jumps 6.4 lakh mark

New Delhi, Jul 4 (UNI) India once again has registered a record breaking single day rise , this time of 22771 fresh infections , taking the country's Covid contagion tally to 648315.
According to the health ministry update on Saturday morning , the peninsular has reported 442 deaths in the last 24 hours , taking the pandemic death count here to 18655.
Although cases are rising , but, there is also an improvement in the recovery rate of the covid patients being witnessed here , and close to 4 lakh people have been cured and discharged so far , with the number presently standing at 394227.
The difference between number of the recoveries as compared to the current active cases under medical supervision , has again increased , and on the positive side , that is more recoveries than the active cases.
Active cases across the country are at present 235433, that are 158794 less than that of the recoveries, as per the government data.
Recovery rate is around 60 per cent at present , based on government data.
As per the Indian Council for Medical Research , samples tested for the virus across the country till Friday were 95,40,132.
