India records 65,002 COVID-19 cases, 996 deaths

New Delhi, Aug 15 (UNI) With 65,002 fresh COVID-19 cases, India's case tally crossed 25 lakh-mark on Saturday, as per an update from Union Health Ministry.
As many as 996 more patients died in the past 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 49,036.
According to the ministry, the total number of cases now stand at 25,26,192 which includes 6,68,220 active ones.
On the brighter side, with 71.61 per cent, the recovery rate improved 0.44 per cent in the past 24 hours. The total number of recoveries are 18,08,936, which comprises 57,381 fresh recoveries.
Some 8,68,679 samples were tested in the same time, taking the total tests to 2,85,63,095 as per the Indian Council of Medical Research.
