India, Pak hold Indus water talks

New Delhi, March 20 (UNI) India and Pakistan today held a meeting of the Indus Water Commission at Islamabad to discuss the problems relating to water sharing between the two countries.
The last meeting of the Commission was held in 2015. Another meeting which was to be held in September 2016 had been cancelled in the wake of the Uri terror attack by Pakistan-based terror outfit.
Though the Indian side downplayed the talks, in Pakistan the talks were described as of substantial importance if seen as beginning of some engagement that might lead to resumption of peace dialogue.
Today’s meeting discuss the designs of three water projects being built by India on the Chenab, over which Pakistan has objections.
The Indian side was led by Indus Water Commissioner PK Saxena and the Pakistani side by Mirza Asif Sayeed.
Pakistan’s minister for water and power Khwaja Asif described the treaty as a very important agreement, which provides an amicable solution of serious water issues between the two countries..
According to Radio Pakistan, Mr Asif expressed the hope that things will move in the positive direction as a result of meeting between Permanent Indus Commissioners of Pakistan and India.

New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said that Kannur airport will be provided all possible help to make it fully operational by September this year and directed the Chairman, Airport Authority of India to take all necessary steps to make the airport as a point of call for foreign airlines.

New Delhi, June 23 (UNI) The memo has been issued to those doctors of East Delhi Municipal Corporation’s (EDMC) Swami Dayanand Hospital at Dilshad Garden, who were found prescribing medicines from outside to patients during Mayor’s surprise inspection.
