India-Pak cricket match sparks protests in UP

Lucknow, Sept 14 (UNI) Ahead of the India-Pakistan clash in the Asia Cup 2025, tensions are running high in Uttar Pradesh with public sentiment sharply divided over the decision to allow the match, particularly following the recent Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor.
In Lucknow, the National Students' union of India (NSUI), the student wing of the Congress, strongly protested at Hazratganj. Protesters raised slogans such as "Pakistan Murdabad" and "BCCI Murdabad," voicing their strong opposition to the match.
Protesters took their demonstration a step further by carrying an effigy of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), smearing it with black ink, and attempting to set it ablaze.
