India is full of possibilities to become world's biggest 'Film Tourism Hub', says Naqvi

Mumbai, Jan 11 (UNI) Union Minority Affairs Minister Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi said on Friday that India is full of all facilities, possibilities and resources to become the world's biggest "Film Tourism Hub".

'India is the only country of the world where we can find every climate and atmosphere, picturesque mountains and forests, beauty of rivers and sea, villages and cities and confluence of various cultures,' Mr Naqvi said in his address at the third "Global Film Tourism Conclave", organised by PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry here.

He said joint efforts have to be made to attract global film makers to these features of India and organisations such as PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry were playing an important role towards encouraging these possibilities.

Mr Naqvi said that Indian film industry is more than a century old. 'Thousands of movies are produced in Hindi language and other regional languages. These films play an effective role in creating awareness in the society,' he said.

The minister said Indian film industry has been playing an important role in eliminating various social ills, creating an atmosphere against various social problems and also towards bringing social reforms.

Besides strengthening the fabric of harmony and cultural co-existence, films can play an important role in “exposing and eliminating” the menace of terrorism and radicalism, he stated.

Mr Naqvi said that Indian film industry was free from any influence and it has every freedom.

'Film makers in India are free to make film on any subject until a subject doesn’t creates negative atmosphere or divisive environment in the society,' he said.

Cautioning film makers and actors that they should remain alert regarding their responsibility towards the society, he said the society considers the film personalities especially film actors as their role model, an icon.

'Their statement can influence the society and the country both positively and negatively,' he stressed.

Mr Naqvi said that Indian film industry was free from the barrier of region and religion, adding that Indian films have succeeded in delivering effective messages on social, cultural and reformist issues.

This "Global Film Tourism Conclave" was attended by representatives from tourism sector, film directors, producers, distributors, writers and other film personalities of India and many other countries, including Romania, Bulgaria, Macau, Hungary, according to a statement issued here.
