New Delhi, June 19 (UNI) India on Wednesday invited Russian companies to invest in the country's future city gas networks.
Visiting Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Petrovich met Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and discussed "new opportunities' in the energy sector emerging from establishment of shipping routes from Far Eastern Russia to East Coast of India.
During the meeting, Pradhan also conveyed interest in expanding Indian investments in the oil and gas sector in Russia, including in the Russian Far Eastern part.
The Russian Far East on the transport corridor between Europe and Asia has untapped energy potential.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his meeting with President Vladimir Putin last week had agreed to expand their economic partnership.
Modi would attend the Eastern Economic Forum meeting in Vladivostok in September.
