Amsterdam, Aug 15 (UNI) Led by Manpreet Singh, the Indian men's hockey team defeated the Netherlands by 2-1 here in a nail biting match. Goals from Gurjant Singh and Mandeep Singhgave India the two match series win. Highlighting nine players from the junior team, the Indian team beat an experienced Netherlands side as Gurjant and Mandeep pummeled one goal each. Earning a penalty corner in the fourth minute, Varun Kumar's drag flick was saved by the Dutch goalie. But Gurjant was quick enough to pick up the rebound and send it past the keeper to give India 1-0 lead. In the last fifteen minutes, India notched up their attacking intensity. In the 16th minute striker Mandeep converted a penalty corner to increase the margin by 2-0. The Dutch kept trying to ake a comeback. In the 58th minute Saander de Wijn scored from a penalty corner.
