India committed to develop connectivity with neighbours: Modi

New Delhi, Jan 21 (UNI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday said improving cross border connectivity is an important aspect of India's "Neighbourhood First" policy and his government is committed to develop relations with countries in the region in areas like trade, culture and education.
Modi inaugurated with his Nepal counterpart K P Sharma Oli the second Integrated Check Post at Jogbani-Biratnagar built with Indian assistance to facilitate trade and people’s movement through video link.
The first ICP was built in Raxaul-Birgunj in 2018.
Modi said better connectivity becomes more important in case of India-Nepal relations as the two countries are not simply neighbours but also tied with history, culture. nature, families, language, development and many more threads.
He said the Indian government is committed to develop better transportation facilities with all the friendly nations and it is working on road, rail and transmission projects in Nepal.
The integrated check posts at major border points between India and Nepal are facilitating bilateral trade.

Both prime ministers witnessed the progress in India-assisted post-earthquake housing projects in Nepal.

Prime Minister Oli thanked India for its efforts and said that with stable and majority governments in both countries all pending issues can be resolved through dialogue.
"My government remains committed to working closely with the Government of India towards this end,” said Oli over the video-link.
He also extended an inviation to Modi to visit Nepal.
