India asks Interpol to issue Red Corner Notice against Mallya

New Delhi, May 12 (UNI) A day after UK authorities refused to deport industrialist Vijay Mallya, who is facing charges of loan default to the tune of over Rs 9,000 crore, the CBI today asked Interpol to issue Red Corner Notice (RCN) against the fallen liquor baron to ensure his return to face the law of the land.
Sources in the agency said the request to Interpol, which is an international police authority, to publish RCN was sent after Enforcement Directorate (ED) wrote to it. CBI acts as the nodal office for execution of Interpol warrants in India.
Mallya had left India on March 2 using his diplomatic passport. The ED had registered a money laundering case against Mallya and others based on an FIR registered last year by the CBI.
