Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 23 (UNI) It was a day of celebration for India- as Team India sealed victory over Kiwis in the first One Day International (ODI) at Napier, the India-A squad tamed England Lions defeating by 3 wickets in the first ODI of the five-match series to take 1-0 lead at the Sports Hub in Karyavattom here on Wednesday.
Even though the visitors set a challenging total of 286 to the hosts powered by skipper Sam Billings unbeaten century, the Indian side chased down the target in 49.1 overs with three wickets in hand. Skipper Ajinkya Rahane (59) and Ishan Kishan (57 not out) scored half-centuries for India-A.
Earlier in the day, India-A won the toss and elected to field in the opener of the five-match series.
