Independent MLC, leaders of Teachers Association join BJP in UP

Lucknow, Nov 13 (UNI) The ruling BJP in Uttar Pradesh received a shot in its arm, when several leaders of the Teachers Union, including sitting Independent MLC from Lucknow Graduate and Teachers constituency Umesh Dwivedi, joined the party in presence of party president Swantra Deo Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma, here on Wednesday.

The new entrants were welcomed by the BJP leaders in the party fold and given membership cards.

Mr Dwivedi said that he will perform his duties as a simple worker and take up whatever responsibility the party gives him. The saffron party has taken a new initiative for the non-aided teachers in the state and these teachers will support BJP in every matter, he assured.

The other leaders of different teachers association who joined the party, include Secondary Teachers Federation General Secretary Ajay Singh, Adhoc Teachers Association state president Sanjay Singh and Vocational Teachers Association General Secretary Alok Shukla.

MLC Umesh Dwivedi's term is expiring on May 6, 2020 and he is expected to contest the Lucknow graduate constituency with BJP support.

Unnao, Dec 7 (UNI) Stating that the Uttar Pradesh government was responsible for the death of the rape victim who was set ablaze in Unnao, Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday said the level of women insecurity was so abysmal in the state that even a nine-year-old girl was afraid of going to school alone.
