Incessant rain throws life out of gear in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, Aug 17 (UNI) Heavy downpour in the last 24 hours swept the low lying areas in the town unleashing a deluge on the streets.
Most of the roads and streets including areas of new vegetable market, tehsil complex, damoria bridge, shaheed Babu Labh Singh Nagar, jiggery market, central town, Pahgwara gate and Kapurthala chowk submerged in the water.
Traffic disrupted in many areas and many vehicles can be seen stranded at the water-logged streets. A transformer at Bhogpur blew in the heavy showers, following which a person sustained injuries while two others escaped unhurt. Jaspal Singh, a resident of Jalandhar, who runs a jewelry shop at Bhogpur came under the wall adjoining the transformer and got injured. He was rushed to a hospital where his condition stated to be out of danger.
