Inaugural edition of ILGW concludes, witnesses participation from all walks of life

New Delhi, Oct 4 (UNI) The inaugural edition of the India Learn Golf Week (ILGW), aimed to grow and spread the game across the country which saw the participation of 26 clubs and 15 cities, has concluded after receiving massive response across all venues.


   The nationwide initiative, which concluded yesterday, saw highest participation in cities like Pune, Panchkula and Jaipur while places like Kolkata and Lucknow also saw people come out in numbers in spite of the festival period to play golf.


   The ILGW saw golf clubs tie-up with schools in several places in order to promote the game amongst youngsters. The Hamoni Golf club in Gurgaon organized a pay and play tournament for juniors to give them real-time experience of tournament play and put into practice golf course etiquettes. At Pune’s Oxford golf course, coach Lawrence Brotheridge of the famous David Leadbetter Golf academy imparted lessons, making the week a successful and enriching experience for the learners. ILGW also saw participation from top corporates and a special clinic was organized for IIT students to learn golf at the Golden Swan Country Club in Mumbai. Bhubaneshwar Golf Club organized special golf clinic for KISS students as a part of the ILGW UNI KU SW 1744

Jakarta, Aug 17 (UNI) As the 20-year old javelin champion Neeraj Chopra leads Indian contingent into the 18th Asian Games here on Saturday with fans back home hoping and praying for the country’s 800 plus athletes to do well in these continental quadrennial sporting extravaganza, the controversial pull out by Leander Paes has somewhat dampened the spirits.
