In Jharkhand, a group emerges as watchdog to strengthen women's safety

Ranchi, Nov 13 (UNI ) As Jharkhand continues to confront the deep-rooted challenges of domestic violence and alcohol-linked abuse, the state's Gulabi Gang has evolved into a powerful community watchdog; one that not only supports victims but also monitors, documents, and intervenes in cases of violence at the grassroots.
With more than 10,000 active members, the women-led organisation is reshaping local accountability systems and pushing for safer neighbourhoods across the state.
Founded in 2015 by Rani Devi in Sundar Nagar, Hehal, the group began as a small circle of 25 women determined to address the violence they witnessed within their homes and communities. Over the years, it has grown into a state-wide network working across Ranchi, Lohardaga, Gumla, Bokaro, and Dhanbad.
