New Delhi, May 26 (UNI) Reiterating his vision for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan spoke to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday and expressed his desire to work together for betterment of their peoples.
'PM spoke to PM Modi today and congratulated him on his party’s electoral victory in Lok Sabha elections in India. PM expressed his desire for both countries to work together for betterment of their peoples,' tweeted spokesperson of Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Pakistan.
Dr Faisal said Mr Khan reiterated his vision for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia and hoped to work with Mr Modi in this direction.
'Reiterating his vision for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia, the Prime Minister said he looked forward to working with Prime Minister Modi to advance these objectives,' Dr Faisal said.
On May 23, the day counting for votes to general elections took place, Mr Khan has congratulated Mr Modi on the electoral victory of the BJP and its allies.
"Looking forward to work with him for peace, progress and prosperity in South Asia," Mr Khan has tweeted.
Prime Minister Modi has responded positively to the 'peace' gestures from his Pakistan counterpart Imran Khan and said he has always given "primacy" to peace and development in the region.
"Thank you PM Imran Khan. I warmly express my gratitude for your good wishes. I have always given primacy to peace and development in our region," the Prime Minister has tweeted.
