Importance of Manuscripts should be taught to younger generation: Hampa Nagarajaiah

Belagavi, Oct 13 (UNI) Noted Kannada writer and Scholar in Jainisim Hampa Nagarajaiah, underlining that most of the Indian History, Culture and Religion were made known through manuscripts preserved since centuries, said that the "importance of manuscripts should be taught to younger generation".
He was speaking after inaugurating a two day 15th State level Hastha Prathi (Manuscript) Sammelan organised by the Manuscriptology Department in Kannada University, Hampi and University’s Dr Aa Ne Upadhye Expansion Centre here on Saturday.
Mr Hampana said “contribution of the manuscripts is lot in understanding our past and expand limit of our knowledge regarding various things. Manuscripts were written manually without use of any machinery. Maximum number of manuscripts written hundreds and thousands of years ago in India are on leaves of 'Bhootale' and 'Shritale' trees woods. These sheets were specialy made and were very delicate. Oldest manuscripts found so far in the world are in the 'Mummies' of Egypt.
