IMD issues Yellow alert for Jan 27 as fresh snowfall likely across HP

Shimla, Jan 24 (UNI) The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Himachal Pradesh, warning of another spell of rain and snowfall on January 27 with the approach of a fresh western disturbance from January 26.
As per the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, light to moderate rain and snowfall is likely at most places in the state, while heavy snowfall may occur at isolated locations in high hill districts. Gusty winds and snow blizzard conditions are also expected in some areas, which may further disrupt normal life .
The alert comes at a time when the hill state is still reeling under the impact of widespread rain and snowfall recorded on January 23 and 24. Though the wet spell brought much-needed relief from acute water shortages after a prolonged dry period, it severely affected daily life, transport, and essential services.
