Illegal sand mining on Brahmni river bed: NGT asks Kendrapara Collector and SP to initiate action

Kendrapara, Nov 17 (UNI) Taking a serious note on the illegal sand mining at Brahmani river bed without Environment clearance,the Principal Bench of National Green Tribunal(NGT), has directed authority to initiate action.
Justice S.P.Wangdi, the Judicial Member and Nagin Nanda, the Expert Member of NGT on the complaint filed by one Manoranjan Pradhan has recently asked the District collector, and SP of Kendrapara besides the State Pollution control Board to inspect the area and ensure that illegal mining would not continue further .
The complainant ,Manoranjan Pradhan raised a serious question of illegal sand mining on the river bed of Brahmani river at Charanarendrapur, Alava and Nimapur under Pattamundai Tehsil of Kendrapara district.

Shillong, April 15 (UNI) Vigilance by the police and paramilitary forces has been mounted along the Meghalaya-Assam inter-state boundary and the international border that the state shares with neighbouring Bangladesh in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for April 19.
