IJU slams Delhi police for arresting freelance Journo under OSA

Hyderabad/Chandigarh, Sep 21 (UNI) Indian Journalists Union (IJU) on Monday slammed the police in theh National Capital for arresting a Delhi based freelance journalist Rajeev Sharma under the Official Secrets Act (OSA) recently for allegedly passing on Defence Secrets to China.
The 61-year-old Mr Sharma, a political analyst and writes on strategic affairs, had also contributed to the Global Times, the English language daily of the Communist Party of China, IJU President K Sreenivas Reddy and Secretary-General Balwinder Singh Jammu said in a statement here.
They expressed surprise over the arrest of Rajeev Sharma under the antiquated Official Secrets Act even after the police themselves conceded that he did not leak information from the Defence Ministry.
